Custom LED lamp designed and built for the restaurant NOSH in downtown Colorado Springs. The “Beacon” was built using the latest LED (light emitting diode) at the time. Special optics focused the light horizontally so as not to blind the pedestrians walking in front of Plaza of the Rockies.
The red cylinder is a 8 inch steel tube with the NOSH cut out and backlight by the “K2” LED. Discs are made of two pieces of half inch acrylic sandwiching a light defusing film. LED’s shine out from between the discs illuminating them but casting light primarily horizontally thanks to special optics.
Keeping LED’s cool is vital to maximize lifespan. We designed and fabricated special heat sinks to work with the beacon and still accommodate the required LED drivers all within the body of the fixture. After inspection we were pleased to get our UL sticker of approval.
Built to last. this project remained in service for over a decade until the restaurant closed and a new look was chosen.
Custom mounting brackets made the installation clean and easy.
